San Marino is a microstate located within Italy. Its total area is 61 square kilometers, which is about twice the size of the Neihu district. Although it is a sovereign state, San Marino still relies on Italy in every aspect, including for diplomatic and military affairs, and most of its goods are imported from Italy, too. Despite its small territory, the state has mature financial, industrial, and tourism sectors, and its GDP per capita is as high as US$44,820, ranking among the top 20 in the world. It is the only country in the world where the number of cars is greater than its total population and the only country without traffic lights. A well-designed traffic system and good respectful drivers keep the traffic incidence rate low.
