Year Founded: 1990
Latvia borders the east coast of the Baltic Sea and is one of the three Baltic States. After it broke away from the Soviet Union in 1990, Latvia underwent a thorough economic model reform and embraced capitalism and market economy. Like Lithuania and Estonia, the transformation was a success. “Introversion” is one of the personality traits of Latvians. But this only means that they are used to being alone and should not be mistaken as a dislike for tourists. It joined multiple international organizations like NATO and the European Union. Latvia has poor relations with Russia.
