由33個大小島嶼組成的太平洋島國，位於太平洋正中間，也是全球唯一一個橫跨東西南北半球的國家。國土面積很小，人口只有12萬，但是海域面積比整個印度還大，所以海洋資源非常豐富。曾是二戰時期的美軍據點，最東邊的島嶼距離美國夏威夷僅1,600公里。2019年和台灣斷交，轉身跟中國建交。2021年傳出中國要修復美軍遺留下來的飛機跑道，將會對美國帶來威脅。

Composed of 33 islands big and small, the Pacific island nation sits in the center of the Pacific and is the world’s only country to cross the east and west hemispheres and the north and south hemispheres all at once. The nation is small in land area and has only 120,000 people, but its sea territory is larger than all of India, hence the rich marine resources. Once a U.S. military base during World War II, the island’s east end is only 1,600 km away from Hawaii. Kiribati severed diplomatic ties with Taiwan in 2019, and established diplomatic relations with China instead. In 2021, there was a rumor that China will restore the runway left behind by the U.S. military, which will pose a threat to the U.S.
