位於非洲南部的內陸國，全國皆為乾燥的台地地形，擁有豐富的非洲生物多樣性。1966年脫離英國殖民後實施民主化，鑽石產業佔國內生產總值的三分之一。政治狀況相較其他非洲國家穩定，且金融紀錄良好，被評比為非洲信用風險最低的國家。新聞自由度相當高，2021年排名全球38名，高於台灣的43名。但同時也是聯合國《世界幸福報告》的倒數第四名，另外全國也受愛滋病所苦，15歲到49歲的愛滋病患病率高達20.7%。

Botswana is a landlocked country in Southern Africa. It is topographically flat with a semi-arid climate and has high biodiversity. Since its independence from the United Kingdom in 1966, Botswana adopted democracy. The diamond industry accounts for one-third of the country’s GDP. Botswana is more politically stable than other African countries and has a good financial track record. It has consistently had the highest credit rating in Africa. Botswana enjoys a high level of press freedom. In 2021, it was ranked 38th in the world, higher than Taiwan’s ranking of No. 43. But it also ranked 4th from the bottom in the World Happiness Report released by the United Nations. The country is seriously affected by AIDS. Up to 20.7% of people aged 15-49 are living with HIV/AIDS.
