Therefore, Greece is also referred to as the cradle of Western civilization. Although a developed country with a high-income economy, the economic growth of Greece has slowed down in recent years. Some former European communist countries like Slovenia and the Czech Republic have already caught up to Greece’s 2020 GDP per capita. The state has unresolved diplomatic disputes with Turkey, like the ethnic divide in Cyprus and the rights of exploration and exploitation in the Aegean Sea.
