位於南亞的內陸國家，和中國之間有喜馬拉雅山作為天然國界，其他三面都和印度相鄰。因為靠著喜馬拉雅山脈，全球最高的十座山脈有八座位於尼泊爾境內或邊界，包含最高峰聖母峰，因此成為登山好手的聖地。2006年才結束長達數年的尼泊爾內戰，2008年廢除君主制度，轉為民主共和國，現在由尼泊爾共產黨執政。原先與印度關係緊密，有大量尼泊爾人在印度工作，但近年爆發領土糾紛，一度引發軍事對峙。

An inland country in South Asia, Nepal shares the Himalayas with China as a natural border, and India is the only other neighboring country. Sitting alongside the Himalayas, eight out of ten of the highest mountains in the world are either within Nepal or along its border, including Mount Everest, the highest in the world, naturally making Nepal the holy grail for the best mountaineers. 

After long years of civil war ended in 2006, Nepal abolished its monarchy system in 2008 and transitioned into a democratic republic state. The government in power right now is the Communist Party of Nepal. Nepal has traditionally shared a close relationship with India and a great number of Nepalis working in India, but a territorial dispute in recent years even led to a military standoff at one time.
