Egypt is a transcontinental Arab country spanning both Africa and Asia. The Arab Spring uprising in 2011 toppled President Hosni Mubarak, but the fall of the former dictator only gave rise to another military successor, el-Sisi, who has been in power to this day. Its Suez Canal connects Asia and Europe and produces over US$5 billion in toll fee income annually for Egypt. Currently, the state is in a political fight with Ethiopia over the Nile River water. Should the latter start to fill its Renaissance Dam, a regional conflict is foreseeable as the water level of the Nile section within Egyptian territory would fall. Egypt was also the first Arab country to normalize diplomatic relations with Israel.
