The IPCC has warned that by the year 2100, the Maldives will be uninhabitable. Actively developing its island tourism industry, the Maldives boasts of the highest income per capita in South Asia. Having once left the British Commonwealth, it rejoined it in 2020. A word of caution, the Maldives may be famous in terms of island tourism, but it is also a Muslim country, and people dress conservatively. Skinny-dipping is illegal in the Maldives.
