It’s more like a European country compared to other Latin American countries. Uruguay was the first country in the world to legalize cannabis for personal use in 2013. The country has also legalized same-sex marriage and abortion and is regarded as one of the most socially progressive countries in Latin America. Football is the most popular sport in Uruguay. The first World Cup was held in Uruguay in 1930 and was won by Uruguay.
