台灣在歐洲的唯一邦交國。位於義大利首都羅馬中間，是全世界國土面積最小的國家，大概跟兩個中正紀念堂差不多大。在國際上，教廷被視為一個完整的國際主權，並以觀察員身分加入聯合國，同時也是許多國際組織的成員。另外特別的是，教廷和梵蒂岡其實不太一樣。梵蒂岡是領土，而教廷則是「非國家實體」，是梵蒂岡這塊領土上的政權。這也就是為什麼我們是跟「教廷」簽訂邦交關係，而不是跟「梵蒂岡」了。

Situated within Rome, the capital of Italy, the Holy See, or Vatican, is the smallest country in the world in terms of land area. It occupies a total area about twice the size of the Chiang Kai-shek Memorial Hall. Still, the state has its own national flag, currency, stamps, bank, train station, etc. The Vatican signed the Lateran Treaty with Benito Mussolini in 1929, the then prime minister of Italy, to cement the Holy See's status as a neutral country and that its property would be treated as most sacred and inviolable. With the signing of the Lateran Treaty, the long-standing dispute between the government of Italy and the Holy See was finally resolved. It is also Taiwan's only diplomatic ally in Europe.
