可能是2022年唯一一個宣告破產的國家。（希望截稿後不要再有國家破產了）斯里蘭卡因為積欠太多外債，政府的經濟政策又缺乏出口動能，外匯存底坐吃山空。除此之外，COVID-19和俄烏戰爭又讓觀光客銳減（過去俄烏兩國遊客佔斯里蘭卡總觀光人數25%），政府又莫名其妙實施減稅政策，以及一度禁止農民進口農藥，更加導致農產品歉收。人民缺糧缺燃料，國家甚至宣布公務員少上一天班，在家種菜養活自己。就在外部景氣蕭條、內部政策錯誤之下，斯里蘭卡宣布破產，總統和總理辭職下台。斯里蘭卡在印度洋佔有重要地理位置，印度、美國、G7和國際貨幣基金都已經伸出援手，佔斯里蘭卡外債10%的中國則持續評估中。

A South Asian island nation in the Indian Ocean, also known as "the teardrop of India" due to its teardrop shape. It was formerly named Ceylon, yup, just like Ceylon tea, and exports mainly black tea. It used to share a close relationship with India, but since India intervened in the Sri Lanka civil war, bad blood got between the two countries turning Sri Lanka towards China, and in turn, becoming an important country in the Belt and Road project. In 2017, unable to repay China for the cost of building a harbor, Sri Lanka leased the strategically located Hambantota International Port to China for 99 years, angering the local citizens as well as becoming one of the main examples western countries use when condemning the Belt and Road project.
