前身為TPP，美國退出後改由日本接手，爾後改名為CPTPP。與規定相較寬鬆的RCEP相比，CPTPP是個高標準、全面性的區域貿易協定，成員國涵蓋5億人口，其GDP合計佔全球約13%。目前已有11個簽署國，其中8個國家已批准。
除了現有成員國之外，英國、中國、台灣、厄瓜多也依序在2021年申請加入，南韓則於2022年提出申請。英國脫歐之後積極和各國討論簽署FTA，以彌補歐洲市場的缺口，加入CPTPP便是一大重點。至本日曆截稿前CPTPP尚未通過英國申請，預計於2023年初會有消息。至於台灣和中國的申請，則要等英國資格審核完才會輪到我們兩個（得先成立工作小組）。若你要問我，台灣和中國誰會先加入，這就不是我能預測的了。
另外也有一個聲音是CPTPP應該要捨棄中國，力邀歐盟加入。假若未來全球經貿會以美國、中國、歐盟為三大市場，那麼任何貿易協定最好都要包含其中兩個市場，才稱得上有主導力的區域貿易協定。但前提是，美國得先回到CPTPP才行。

前身為TPP，美國退出後改由日本接手，爾後改名為CPTPP。宗旨是促進亞太區貿易自由化，達成自由開放之目的。協定內容包含貨物貿易、原產地規則、貿易救濟措施、衛生和植物衛生措施、技術性貿易壁壘、服務貿易、智慧財產權、政府採購和競爭政策等。
因為主導國是日本，且中國尚不在簽署國名單內，所以CPTPP是少數台灣有機會參與的多邊貿易協定之一。2021年已有11國完成簽署，其中7國已批准。美國表示不排除重新加入，英國則在脫歐後表示有意願加入。台灣政府表示正在爭取加入中。

Status: Taiwan applies to join CPTPP
After the US withdrew from the TPP, Japan took over and the agreement is now named CPTPP. The CPTPP aims to support sustainable and inclusive economic development in the Asia-Pacific region. The agreement covers the trade of goods, rules of origin, trade remedies, sanitary and phytosanitary measures, technical barriers to trade, trade in services, intellectual property rights, government procurement, and competition policies.
Japan serves as chair of the CPTPP and since China hasn't signed the agreement, it is one of the few multilateral trade agreements Taiwan might be able to join. As of 2021, 11 countries have finished signing, and the applications of the 7 countries have been approved. The US doesn't rule out the possibility of rejoining CPTPP and the UK has shown interest in joining CPTPP after Brexit. Taiwan is applying to join CPTPP.
