位於朝鮮半島北半部的社會主義國家，由金氏家族掌握政權。擁有約120萬軍力的現役軍人，是全球武裝部隊人數第四多的國家，也是目前全球少數的擁核國家。金日成建國時期，經濟發展比南韓好，但在蘇聯解體後失去奧援，導致後來的北韓大饑荒，據傳有300萬人死於飢餓或營養不良。現由第三代金正恩領導，曾於2019年短暫與美國、南韓握手言和，但又在2020年恢復對立。目前仍是東亞各國的防範對象。

A socialist state located in the northern half of the Korean Peninsula; North Korea is under the reign of the Kim family. The country’s military is the fourth largest with approximately 1.2 million in-active-service soldiers and is currently one of the few countries with nuclear weapons in the world. 

When Kim Il Sung founded the country, North Korea accomplished a better economic development than that of South Korea. However, the disintegration of the Soviet Union led to the loss of economic support and resulted in the great North Korean famine. The alleged number of people who died of starvation or malnutrition is 3 million. 

Its current leader is Kim Jong-un from the third generation of the Kim family. In 2019, he was friendly toward the United States and South Korea for a short period of time, but rivalry soon resumed in 2020. East Asian countries currently remain wary of North Korea.
