The Central African Republic is located in the heart of Africa and dominates a strategically important location. It boasts abundant mineral and natural resources and has an extensive arable land area. Since its independence from France in 1960, the country has experienced despotism, a coup d’etat, civil war, and various armed conflicts. Ongoing war has led to economic and development stagnation, landing this state at bottom of the human development index. In recent years, Russia has sold caches of weapons to Central Africa, and since France remains politically influential, the conflict in Central Africa is often seen as a proxy war of these two foreign powers.
